BINGO! by Beth J. Ross was on display at Jackal from 2nd to 25th July 2026

The exhibition brought together Beth’s paintings and embroidery with a film commissioned as part of the Digital Test Commissions for No More Nowt.

The paintings were created using bingo dabbers, with the colours selected by chance using a bingo ball calling machine, introducing an element of unpredictability into the making of each work.

Exploring bingo as both a game and a social activity, the exhibition considered the memories, communities and relationships connected to bingo halls and other spaces where people came together. Alongside the artworks, visitors were invited to engage with bingo materials in the gallery and contribute to a collaborative artwork using bingo dabbers.

The exhibition prompted conversations around memory, class, loneliness and the loss of community spaces, with many visitors sharing their own experiences of bingo, village halls and the people and places associated with them.

The exhibition was accompanied by an artist talk with Beth J. Ross on 3rd July.
